Eric Matthew Richardson is writer and composer based in Chicago, Illinois.

He has been a Dramatists Guild Foundation National Fellowship for Musical Theater Finalist, an O'Neill National Musical Theater Conference Semi-Finalist, and has been featured as one of William Finn’s Emerging Writers. His latest a cappella musical, ei hytte (the cabin), was performed at the 2024 Chicago Musical Theatre Festival finalist through Steppenwolf's LookOut Series, and was awarded an Individual Artist Grant through the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.

He recently developed Heel Turn, a new musical about professional wrestling, through the Chicago Musical Theatre Writer’s Workshop, a program of the American Music Theatre Project (AMTP) at Northwestern University. His other musicals include The Book of Sebastián (The Jacobins, 2018), The LEA Project (No Proscenium's NoPro Audience Award, 2022), and Down & Out in Rocky Heights (Berklee College of Music, 2023).
